Semi-Solid Cushion Tires

Ever wonder if you’re using the right kind of tires for your heavy machinery or do you ever think of the best tire option for your industrial or mining equipment – Skid Steer Loaders, Shotcrete machines or Underground Drilling Rigs? We’ve got you covered.
Among the variety of choices, are specific compositions of metal and rubber to tailor-fit your requirements. For heavy types of machinery, one can hardly distinguish the differences of tires. These tires are obviously huge but what more do they offer?
Having the right fit and tire for your equipment is important. The functionality of most heavy equipment relies on getting the right tire. Choosing the right tire impacts the handling and safety of your material-handling machinery. A choice of solid cushion or pneumatic tires should be properly weighed to ensure overall safety.
Pneumatic Tires
These tires have been around forever and can be used on just about any equipment.
They offer high performance and versatility and are designed for both smooth, and rough terrains, these tires are popularly used on constructions and mining sites, and even in indoor and outdoor warehouses.
Pros
· Pneumatic tires can absorb shock better than most tires.. They can travel at higher speeds·They are cheaper than solid cushioned Tires
Cons
· Getting the right air pressure is tricky meaning higher maintenance.. They are more susceptible to punctures and are less safe underground which means loss of production due to tire damage.
Cushion Tires
While pneumatic tires are considered versatile, semi-solid cushion tires are perfect for indoor and outdoor applications alike, where the ground can be smooth or rough and downtime due to tire damage is eliminated.
Crocodile Tires are a semi-solid Airless cushioned tire built around a more superior design which encompasses two compounds of rubber and a modified pneumatic rim.
Rubber Compound Construction:
1. Tread: A natural rubber (NR) based compound with excellent cut resistance.and2. Cushioned: A resilient cushion compound is used in the bulk of the tire to absorb shock and provide a smooth ride.
Rims: The Crocodile consists of a steel ring welded around the outer periphery a standard pneumatic rim onto which the tire rubber is chemically bonded during the moulding (vulcanisation) process. Rim centres can be fitted at the warehouse according to customers' machine specifications prior to delivery. This eliminates the need for a custom rim (required by other non-pneumatic tires). Their is also the option to customise the disc centre to suit many various machines & applications.
Crocodile tires have superior ride comfort with key features protected by International Patents.
Pros
· They provide better stability on most equipment. eg Underground Drilling Rigs.. Greater machine productivity- downtime due to tire damage is eliminated.. Greater durability- Tread life up to 4 times longer than pneumatic equivalents..Ride quality vastly improved- as compared with conventional solids and solid- filled pneumatics, due to the patented void design.. More economical-as compared with pneumatic tires, due to higher tire life.. Elimination of Downtime. Increased safety-no risk of blowouts under load, and easy to fit. Both pneumatic and solid cushion tires should be properly monitored to ensure safety. When it comes to replacing these tires, visible and evident damages is a good sign to change your tires.
General Rule
Before deciding on the tire to buy, consider the terrain and conditions in which the tires will be used, and of course, always prioritize the safety of your operators. Make sure your teams are prepared for both the handling and maintenance challenges of the various equipment you choose.
At Croc Tyres Pty Ltd, we can provide any types of tires for your machinery and equipment. May it be underground drilling rigs, skid-steer loaders, shotcrete machines, telehandlers, personal carriers, etc., Crocodile Tires has it all.
