What are Crocodile Tires?

What are Crocodile Tires?
Crocodile tires are a new type of airless (semi-solid) tire designed specifically for industrial machines such as skid steer loaders, and mining equipment such as underground drill rigs, shotcrete machines and construction vehicles including EWPs (Elevated Work Platforms) and Scissor Lifts. The latest tires in the Crocodile range will be released shortly are for Cane and Wheat Harvesters. Other Crocodile Tires in the pipeline will be released to the market in the near future. The Crocodile Airless Tire Technology is the result of many years of development in Australia, one of the harshest environments in the world for off the road tires. The result is a maintenance-free otr tires, which provides exceptional tread life and durability, while at the same time providing a soft cushioned ride, to the benefit of operator comfort and machine transmission life.
THE TECHNOLOGY
The Crocodile Tire is an Airless Puncture Proof Tire with some unique characteristics.
The Crocodile Tire consists of a steel ring welded around the outer periphery of a standard pneumatic tire rim, onto which the tire rubber is bonded during the moulding (vulcanisation) process. Its major advantages are: • elimination of the need for a custom rim (required by other non- pneumatictires). • superior ride comfort with key features protected by international patents. • the ability to customise the disc centre to suit many machines & applications.

Why use Crocodile Tires?

There is a clear need in the market for a puncture proof tire that offers better ride comfort than current non-pneumatic tires. Crocodile's ability to fit to a standard pneumatic rim, its lower mass, manufacturing advantages and superior ride comfort makes it a clear leader in this segment.
• Greater machine productivity - downtime due to tire damage is eliminated • Increased safety - no risk of blowouts under load, and easy to fit • Greater durability - tread life up to 4 times longer than pneumatic equivalents in some applications • Ride quality vastly improved - as compared with conventional solids and solid-filled pneumatics, due to patented void design • The cushioning effect of Crocodile tires reduces machine wear and tear, as compared with conventional solids & solid-fill pneumatics • Crocodile tires are 100% recyclable, so fewer waste tires will go to landfill. • More economical - as compared with pneumatic tires, due to higher tire life & the elimination of downtime.
